When American skateboarding phenom, Nyjah Huston first laid eyes on the San Juan Capistrano 5,300-square-foot pueblo styled home, it was just another pipe dream. With it’s insane views and eclectic, modern architectural exterior, Huston knew it was well beyond his budget. A couple of years later, in 2018, after an unexpected price drop, Huston realized that the pad could be his. The only problem was that he realized the interior would take a lot more work than he could handle.
“{There were} alot of weird colors inside, weird greenish granite, and lots of carpet; we did a complete remodel on it,” Huston says while reflecting on the convincing it took to get him to purchase the home. Encouraged by his mom/manager, Kelle Huston, who showed him photos of what could be, Huston decided to give it a go. A full remodel was on deck, so combined with his mother’s style, Huston met with designer Stace King based out of Laguna Beach, California, and the renovations began.
Close to a year later, Huston’s stunning home is fit to his style:
Tonal black, white, and gray interiors with an abundance of skulls of all kinds, from stitched on throw pillows to cow and coyote craniums. ‘That’s all me and my type of style,’ says the athlete, who consciously introduced wood elements during the renovation as well as hints of vibrant color through artwork.
